Trevor Kruse Phillips

Founder/University of Michigan MBA ’28.

I love teams and the roles they play in making organizations great. Ever since I was a little kid, I was involved in sports and have always found myself the happiest when working on teams. As most young boys do, I also loved tanks and playing Army as a kid. I’d go crawl around in the woods pretending to be a scout, build wooden tanks, and loved the idea of protecting people. In 2014 I joined the Army and began what has been the cornerstone experience of my life. Starting as an infantryman in the Indiana National Guard, then a reconnaissance platoon leader at Fort Bliss, Texas, and finally leading a tank company at Fort Stewart, Georgia; I got to do something eight year old Trevor would think was really cool! While I was forced to medically retire in 2026 due to asthma developed because of toxic fume exposure, I was able to learn so many leadership lessons and meet amazing people. I got to do something amazing with amazing people and believe everyone should have the opportunity to do something that their younger self “would think was pretty cool”

I am currently a part time MBA student at the University of Michigan’s Ross School of Business and deeply desire to utilize the knowledge I am gaining in a way that could empower others to chase their dreams. I’m not trying to grow fortune 500 companies, but if I can help some people find meaning through loving their work, then this was a success. Especially veterans struggling with the transition to civilian life.

What I bring to the table is a growing understanding of business concepts (data analytics, accounting, economics, etc.), a plethora of leadership experience from my Army career, and care desire to help. I’m a constant thinker who loves to find creative solutions to problems.

Outside of school and this venture, I love fitness, breweries, woodworking, and grilling. I am engaged to my best friend (and teammate) Sarah and currently reside in Milwaukee, WI with our three dogs.
